It was the night of Christmas Eve and Shiloh was enjoying herself running out and playing in the fresh snow. Jumping around and prancing in the cold was fun! This definitely was her favorite time of year. Warm houses filled with joy and holiday cheer always left Shiloh feeling so happy!
As Shiloh explored in the snow, she smelled something funny. What the heck? She followed the smell and it led her into a snow-blanketed forest.
Hmm… This is interesting...
Shiloh passed some bushes and in front of her stood a reindeer! The reindeer looked spooked, and it bounded away. Shiloh tried to follow it, but it was just too fast. Another reindeer was running through the trees as well
“Dasher! Donner!” A voice yelled out. Shiloh ran to the voice and oh my goodness! It was Santa! Santa’s sleigh was in the snow and two of his reindeer were all nowhere to be found. “Oh no…” He said and frowned before noticing Shiloh. “Shiloh!” He exclaimed with a smile and patted her head.
“Will you help me find Dasher and Donner? I can’t deliver all these presents without them!” Santa said and pointed to the back of his sleigh where his giant sack of presents resided. Shiloh barked happily and ran back into the forest where she was before. Santa followed her with two leads in his hands. Shiloh stood still for a few moments and listened. The snow was so quiet you could barely hear it fall. In the distance, there was a faint jingling sound. Shiloh ran to the jingles with Santa. There in an opening, eating some flowers was Donner! Donner raised his head and walked over to Santa.
“Hello, Donner,” Santa said with a jolly smile. He hooked Donner to one of the leads. Now they just had to find Dasher. He couldn’t be that far away and the snow began to stop.
“Dasher!” Santa called out. They stood silently to listen for more jingle bells but they didn’t hear anything. They walked through the forest but there was still no sign of Dasher. The forest came to an end and some houses were now visible. Dasher was also now visible. He was visiting a certain windowsill. A windowsill with a cooling apple pie on it. Dasher was eating the pie and spilling crumbs and filling everywhere! It got into his fur and all over the wooden windowsill.
Om nom nom! So yummy!
“Dasher!” Santa whisper yelled. “Dasher, now Stop!”
It was too late. The pie was gone but at least Dasher was happy. He pranced over to Santa who hooked him up to another lead. Santa felt very guilty about the ruined pie and the mess it made.
Santa twirled a finger and the remaining pie pieces poofed out of existence. He reached into one of his pockets and pulled out a very nicely wrapped present. He placed it where the pie once was and began to walk back to his sleigh with Donner and Dasher in tow. Each step they took made the bells on the reindeers’ harnesses jingle loudly. Santa grimaced at the noises, and he tried to pick up the pace. He didn’t want anyone to see him or his reindeer.
Shiloh followed Santa back to his sleigh where he attached both the reindeers onto their respective spots of the lineup. The reindeer all looked happy to be back together. They sniffed each other and their tails calmly swished from side to side.
Santa pet Shiloh’s head with a smile before boarding his sleigh.
“Thank you, Shiloh!” Santa said and Shiloh watched as he took to the skies on his sleigh. “Ho! Ho! Ho!” Santa shouted and tossed a toy bone down to Shiloh.
Shiloh caught the bone and pranced back to her house. Her humans were making cookies and one of them was talking about a disappearing pie.
Shiloh laid down in her comfortable bed and chewed on her new favorite toy.
“Thank you, Santa!”
